The Appeal Court of Kyiv confirmed the decision on the refuse to provide Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia and former head of Odesa Regional State Administration, with the status of a person in need of the additional protection. Such a decision was made during the session of the court on February 5, - Ukrainska Pravda reports.

"The court ruled not to satisfy the appeals of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and Saakashvili, and leave the previous decision of the District Court unchanged", - Judge Andriy Korotkyh said. The decision takes effect on February 5.

According to lawyer of Saakashvili, Ruslan Chornolutskiy, this decision gives the Ukrainian authorities certain grounds for carrying out actions aimed at the possible extradition of his client from Ukraine as a stateless person.

The lawyer also assured that this decision would be appealed in the court of cassation. "We will appeal this decision, if the court does not support our position in the cassation instance, we will move further to protect Saakashvili. There are also European instances", - Ruslan Chornolutskiy said.
