Two-time champion of Russia in duel shooting from rifle Alexander Zalichev is involved in terrorist activities in eastern Ukraine and served as a sniper in Wagner military company in 2014. This was said on the air of Priamy TV channel by head of the apparatus of the SBU chairman Ihor Huskov.

"Indeed, the Security Council of Ukraine, together with other law enforcement agencies, carries out documentation of criminal activities, including of Russian mercenaries in the Donbass, within the limits of powers. We have repeatedly informed the public about the activities of the special unit of the Russian Federation under the name of Wagner. We informed that we have personal data of almost 2 thousand mercenaries. And in the framework of this work, new facts of impudent attitude towards Ukraine by special services of Russia and individual citizens are being revealed.

So, it was established that Alexander Zalichev, who served as a sniper, was one of the mercenaries of Wagner. It is seen from the analysis of open sources that he was a two-time champion of Russia, and I emphasize, a member of Russia's national team in tactical shooting at least in 2014-2016", - he said.

According to Huskov, joint work of the state bodies of Ukraine is quite necessary to inform the public about such cases.

He noted that the Security Service had prepared a letter to the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine with a request to bring relevant information to the sports federations of partner countries.

As previously reported, the Security Service of Ukraine had uploaded audio files of phone conversations of head of Wagner private military company Dmitriy Utkin and General of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Yevgeniy Nikiforov (call sign "Tambov"). Earlier, the SBU reported on video evidence that members of PMC Wagner took part in the seizure of Luhansk airport. Furthermore, the SBU added that PMC Wagner recruits mercenaries for its army in the colonies of the Russian Federation. The Security Service of Ukraine discovered 1587 mercenaries of the Russian private military company - the so-called "Wagner Group", operating in the Donbass and now participating in the Syrian conflict.
