Klimkin assures that there are no "direct threats" for visa-free travel as of today

Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has assured that at the moment, there are no direct threats to the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union. He stated this on the air of 1+1 TV channel, - zn.ua reports.

"There are no direct threats as of today. Nobody will take "visa-free travel" away tomorrow and the day after, but what was promised, must be done", – the Foreign Minister said.

He noted that creation of the anti-corruption authorities was a condition for obtaining a visa-free regime. If there are questions to fulfillment of this requirement, it will become a subject of political dialogue between Ukraine and the EU, but not the very question of "visa-free travel" as such, - Klimkin stressed.

As previously reported, the European Commission put forward demands for Ukraine to extend the visa-free regime. In particular, the EC pointed to the need to create a Specialized Anti-Corruption Court, restore reputation of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption and launch an effective system for verifying electronic declarations, as well as to repeal legal standards with the requirements for filing e-declarations by civil anti-corruption activists.
