Putin stated that he is not against peacekeepers throughout the Donbass, but under the condition of dialogue between Ukraine and militants

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that he is not against instituting the international control throughout the occupied Donbass, but he advocates for the direct talks between Kyiv and militants. He stated this at an annual press conference, - UNIAN reports.

Putin recalled that Russia has submitted a resolution on peacekeeping mission in the Donbass to the UN Security Council.

"We have proposed a draft of the relevant resolution that the UN forces, which would be taken under the protection of the OSCE staff, should appear. After that, Merkel (German Chancellor Angela Merkel – ed.) told me by phone: "Why only at the border and on the separation line? After all, the OSCE personnel move throughout the Donbass, please agree that they should be guarded wherever they appear, including at the border between Russia and Donbass, Russia and Ukraine, at this part of the border". I thought and said: "Yes, you are right", and we have immediately amended our resolution", - he noted.

He believes that the Ukrainian government must agree directly with the fighters of CDDLO.

"Now it turns out that even this is not enough. In fact, it all comes down to putting this territory under international control. We do not mind it, but in this regard, Kyiv authorities must negotiate with the Donbass itself", - Putin stated.

As previously reported, on September 20, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appealed to the UN Security Council regarding the deployment of peacekeeping mission in the Donbass.

Speaking at the general debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, he stressed that the UN peacekeeping mission should be deployed throughout the occupied Donbass, including the border. In turn, the Russian Federation declares that a full-fledged peacekeeping operation in the occupied Donbass is unacceptable from the point of view of the Minsk agreements, and insists that the UN peacekeepers should be based only on the line of demarcation in the Donbass in order to ensure the safety of observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission. On November 11, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin reported that Ukraine, the USA and Germany have a virtually ready draft UN resolution on peacekeeping mission in the Donbass.
