"LNR" militants sentenced a man to 12 years imprisonment for performing Ukrainian songs in a bar

In Luhansk, militants’ fake court "sentenced" a man to 12 years imprisonment for the performance of Ukrainian songs in the bar. This is stated in the "Report on the Situation of Human Rights in Ukraine, August 16-November 15, 2017" prepared by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

It is noted that on October 31, the "military court" of the so-called "LNR" sentenced a man to 12 years in prison for alleged treason as a result of a two-week quasi-judicial proceeding held behind closed doors.

The UN emphasizes that this process, like all similar trials in the terrorist "republics", was held quietly, without representatives of the media and the public.

In addition, OHCHR notes that the defense lawyer, appointed by the “Ministry of State Security of the LNR”, was not present at all court hearings and never visited his client in the detention center.

The report says that although the details of this "prosecution" are not disclosed, initially this man was arrested for singing a Ukrainian song at a local bar.
