Mikheil Saakashvili and his entourage received funding from members of Yanukovych’s organized criminal group to conduct protests in Ukraine in order to seize power. This was said by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko today at a briefing in Kyiv, OstroV’s correspondent reports.

"This concerns the cooperation of a number of politicians - Mikheil Saakashvili and members of Yanukovych’s criminal group, first of all, Sergei Kurchenko. For his money Saakashvili financed the protests, the purpose of which was the seizure of power in Ukraine and assistance in stopping criminal prosecution and restoring control over the assets that they acquired in Ukraine in a criminal way", - reported Lutsenko.

"We have recorded that Saakashvili's team received about $0.5 million from the Russian sole proprietorship", - Lutsenko added.

As previously reported, today the leader of the Movement of New Forces party, ex-head of the Odessa regional state administration Mikheil Saakashvili, was detained in Kyiv.

At present, activists have blocked the bus with the detained ex-president of Georgia in the center of Kyiv.
