The Government of Lithuania has decided to transfer weapons and ammunition to Ukraine in the amount of almost 2 million euros. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the Ministry of Defence of the republic.

The report notes that Ukraine will be transferred weapons that were used before the replaced by NATO standards.

More than 7 thousand Kalashnikov rifles and almost 2 million cartridges will be the bulk of the transferred weapons.

More than 80 machine guns, more than ten mortars, anti-tank and other weapons are also being transferred.

"The transfer of property is part of the consistent and comprehensive assistance of Lithuania to Ukraine in strengthening the defensive power and providing the sovereignty of states", - the words of the Minister of Defence Raimundas Karoblis were quoted in the report.
