The UN assessment mission on stabilization of the situation in Donbass will start its work as of January 23rd. 112.uareported about that with the reference to Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations.

"In the context of strengthening the UN's role in stabilizing the situation in the Donets Basin, at the request of the Ukrainian side with the January 23, 2016 in Ukraine will begin work of UN assessment mission", - said in a statement.

The mission will include representatives of the UN Development Programme, UN Children's Fund and the United Nations Mine Action Service.

The mission is planned to hold meetings with officials of the central executive authorities in Kiev and also travel to Donbass to study the needs, in particular, in the field of humanitarian demining.

As previously reported, the permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Vladimir Yelchenko announced intentions to organize a trip of the group of permanent representatives of the member states of the UN Security Council to Donbass to convince them of the need to deploy a peacekeeping operation.
