Russia rejects 26 of 29 U.S. proposals for UN peacekeeping force in Donbass

During the November 13 meeting held in Belgrade between U.S. Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker and Russia’s presidential aide Vladislav Surkov, the parties have discussed the possibility to deploy a UN peacekeeping mission in eastern Ukraine, TASS news agency reported,

"We discussed in detail the Russian initiative to deploy UN forces in Ukraine”, - Surkov said.

At the talks, the U.S. representative conveyed the additions to the Russian version of the resolution on the deployment of the UN mission in the Donbass.

"Our American friends presented their proposals concerning our Security Council draft resolution, which contained 29 paragraphs. Our delegation came to the conclusion that three of them were acceptable. Not a lot, really. But three is not zero. It’s better than zero", - Putin’s aide said.

According to Surkov, the parties decided to continue the work to bring their positions closer.

"The representatives of Russia and the United States agree on the main thing - the Minsk agreement should be implemented. For this it is necessary to accelerate the fulfillment by Kyiv its political obligations while strengthening security in the conflict zone", - he said.
