The OSCE SMM’s UAV discovered mines near the militant’s checkpoint side of Zolote

The unmanned aerial vehicle of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission found 18 anti-tank mines in the area of Zolote (the Luhansk oblast). This is stated in the report of the OSCE SMM.

"On 17 October, an SMM mid-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) spotted for the first time 18 anti-tank mines with pressure fuse (probable TM-62), in an area which extended 500m south of the “LNR” checkpoint south of the Zolote disengagement area. The same UAV spotted what appeared to be mowed grass in an area 3-5m-wide on both sides of road T1316 assessed as inside the disengagement area", - the report said.

Earlier, the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup Iryna Gerashchenko had said that in the near future the checkpoint Zolote in the Luhansk oblast would be opened.

In turn, the occupation "authorities" refused to open Zolote checkpoint on their part on October 20.

The Ukrainian side had already tried to open this checkpoint on March 31, 2016. However, immediately after the beginning of its functioning, it became apparent that representatives of illegal armed formations were not going to let vehicles and pedestrians through their checkpoint, which is located 1.5 km from Zolote checkpoint. Later representatives of illegal armed formations constantly ignored all decisions of the Tripartite contact group in Minsk on its opening.
