The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defence of Ukraine did not support the bill "On creating the necessary conditions for a peaceful settlement of the situation in certain regions of the Donetsk and the Luhansk oblasts" and recommended that it be sent for revision to the president, the OstroV’s correspondent reports.

The bill extends the Law "On special order of local self-government in certain districts of the Donetsk and the Luhansk oblasts" for another year (the term of this edition ends on October 18, 2017).

The committee wanted to amend the text of bill in a way that it comes into force only after the withdrawal of all illegal armed formations and their military equipment, as well as militants and mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine.

"This law starts working after the Ukrainian state regains its sovereignty in these territories", - the head of the committee Serhiy Pashynsky insisted.

But this initiative was not supported by the committee, and it was decided to recommend the Verkhovna Rada to send it for finalization to the President of Ukraine.

Earlier, the committee supported the presidential bill "On the peculiarities of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine over temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and the Luhansk oblasts".

The U.S., German and French embassies voiced support for efforts, aimed at extending the law "On special order of local self-government in certain districts of the Donetsk and the Luhansk oblasts".
