Explosions of ammunition near Vinnytsia: 30 thousand people were evacuated, 700 people are putting out a fire

About 30 thousand people were evacuated from the fire zone of ammunition depots in the Vinnytsia oblast. This is stated in the report of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

It is noted that on September 26 at about 22:00, there was information about explosions of ammunition in the territory of arms depot of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine near the town of Kalynivka.

The residents were notified in the 10-kilometer zone and the evacuation of population was started. As of 8:00, about 30 000 people have been evacuated.

According to preliminary information, 1 person is injured. The victim in state of moderate severity was hospitalized in Vinnytsia Central Regional Hospital.

The State Emergency Service's units brought under the burning of 4 residential houses, which resulted from the hit of ammunition.

Now the movement of all modes of transport is closed, including:

- motor transport on the road Zhytomyr - Mohyliv-Podilskyi;

- railway transport on the block of Sosenko - Kalynivka of the South-Western Railway;

- air transport within a radius of 50 kilometers from Kalynivka.

Power lines of the adjacent settlements were disconnected.

To relief the consequences of emergency, a total of 691 people and 149 units of equipment were involved, including 1 AN-32P plane from the State Emergency Service, 270 people and 60 units of equipment from the National Police, 136 people and 20 units of equipment from the National Guard, 30 people and 5 units of equipment from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, including 2 fire tanks and 3 fire trains from Ukrzaliznytsia. Moreover, 30 doctors and 10 ambulances operate from the Ministry of Health.

20 pyrotechnic squads of the State Emergency Service, numbering 98 people and 48 units of equipment, were sent to the scene. 30 fire teams, numbering 150 people, were alerted.

Mobile operations team of the State Emergency Service operates on the scene.
