OSCE PA may recognize the Russian Federation as an occupier of Crimea and part of Donbass - draft resolution

Russia is recognized as an occupier in the draft resolution of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Political Affairs, the authors of the document urge Russia to abolish the annexation of the Crimea and adhere to agreements on the Donbass. This is reported by Radio Svoboda.

"The OSCE PA's Committee on Political Affairs and Security has prepared a resolution "Strengthening mutual trust and co-operation for peace and prosperity in the OSCE region "for the consideration of the Parliamentary Assembly. The draft acknowledges, among other things, that "certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts" are under the control of "Russian hybrid forces", - the report said.

In the draft resolution, the OSCE PA also calls on the Russian Federation "as an occupier country" to ensure the safe passage of the OSCE SMM across the territory of the Crimea, and also declare support for the Minsk Protocol and the Minsk memorandum on the settlement of the situation in Donbass.

Moreover, in the draft resolution, the parties to the conflict call for the removal of large-caliber weapons and enabling humanitarian missions to carry out their activities in the Donbass.

Deputies of the OSCE PA call on Russia in the prepared draft resolution to end the occupation of Donbass and Crimea: "…We urge the Russian Federation to refrain from aggressive practices and abolish the decision on the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea".

As previously reported, the 26th session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly opens in Minsk today.
