The cargo passage to Transnistria through the territory of Ukraine will be carried out only upon the agreement with the National Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Moldova from May 20. This is reported by the State Consumers Association of Ukraine.

"According to the order No 33 of the Chief State Inspector of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine from May 17, 2017, it is envisaged that from May 20, 2017 the passage of controlled cargo in the transit regime through the territory of Ukraine, which is sent to the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, will be carried out only upon the agreement with the National Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Moldova", - the statement said.

The department notes that this requirement corresponds to p. 14 of the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine of the CIS countries, according to which such cooperation is carried out between the competent authorities in the field of veterinary medicine of Ukraine and Moldova, namely: a permission of the central state veterinary authorities of the parties, on the territory of which the controlled cargo is being imported and transported, is issued for import and international transit preliminarily in a mandatory manner. The itinerary of travel also agrees with them.

This Agreement was initialed by 12 representatives of the governments of the CIS countries, including representatives of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

The department notes that since the operation of this Agreement does not apply to relations with the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the Chief State Inspector of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine has made the appropriate decision in order to ensure its implementation.

It is emphasized that this decision meets the requirements of the World Organization for Animal Health.
