EU Council approves visa-free travel for Ukrainians

The Council of the European Union at the level of the Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries at a meeting on May 11 supported the decision on the liberalization of the visa regime with Ukraine, - UNIAN reports.

The legislative act of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union was approved without further debate, within the framework of the meeting. The document refers to the exemption from visas for EU citizens during trips to Ukraine and Ukrainian holders of biometric passports during their trips to the EU.

The EU Council announced the introduction of visa-free travel for Ukraine, publishing an explanatory video.

The document must be signed by the presidents of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on May 17. After signing, the legislative act must be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force in 20 days. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said earlier that he expects the entry into force of the visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainians on June 11.
