The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the progress of the Minsk agreements in a telephone conversation and coordinated positions before phone negotiations in the "Norman format", scheduled on December 30th. It isreportedby the press service of the head of state.

"The interlocutors discussed the status of the Minsk agreements, stressing the need for their full implementation. The President drew attention to the fact that the pro-Russian militants are increasingly violating the ceasefire and carrying out open provocations, in particular firing at the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission. The Head of Ukraine welcomed the general EU decision on the extension of sanctions against Russia until the Minsk agreements are fully implemented,"- said the statement.

Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel also discussed the progress of reforms in Ukraine and the introduction as of January 1st a deep and comprehensive free trade area with the European Union. The President of Ukraine informed about the destructive decisions of the Russian Federation, which suspended the free trade zone with Ukraine. In her turn, Angela Merkel also confirmed the policy permanency regarding non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea.
