The Central Election Commission asks the Verkhovna Rada committees to clarify the provisions of the Law "On Local Elections" on the possibility of appointing local elections in certain territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts that are under the occupation of the pro-Russian militants. This was reported by the press service of the CEC.

The commission also appealed to the Verkhovna Rada committees on state construction, regional policy and local self-government, legal policy and justice for explanations on the replacement of deputies of local councils in these territories in the event of early termination of their powers before the appointment by the Verkhovna Rada and the holding of relevant local elections in these territories.

The CEC informs that the decision was adopted by the commission in connection with numerous appeals about the possibility of appointing and holding elections by corresponding territorial election commissions of deputies of local councils and corresponding village, town and city heads, as well as replacement of deputies of local councils in certain territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
