On Wednesday, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the snap session of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) proposed that transport communication with temporary occupied territories in Donetsk region be suspended, the press service of the presidential administration reports.

“Today, right now, I offer the Council to make the respective decision, so that all sorts of connection – not just the railway – with the occupied areas will be stopped. The decision will remain in place until the occupants return the Ukrainian enterprises back to the jurisdiction of Ukraine. An exception will be made only for humanitarian cargo from Ukrainian, international organizations, the UN, the Red Cross and others, medicines, goods of prime necessity”, - Poroshenko stressed

According to Poroshenko, mobile groups of volunteers will be watching the movement of transport near the occupied areas.

"We have to take care of a sufficient amount of food and medicines for our citizens. The government offers that mobile groups of volunteers involve common citizens – the honest, unarmed people with a clean criminal record. These groups should be performing effective control of how the Council’s decision is being fulfilled”, - Poroshenko said.

The President hopes that tomorrow the Cabinet will analyze in detail the economic aspect of the situation.
