National Police considers a version of the murder of Pavel Sheremet for journalistic activity as priority

The National Police considers professional activity as the main version of the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet. This was reported by the head of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police Oleksandr Vakulenko, - Ukrainski Novyny writes.

"The priority version - Sheremet's professional activity as a journalist in the territory of Ukraine and abroad", - he stated.

The versions of conflicts in his personal live and bond of financial obligations in considerable amounts are also investigated.

Vakulenko noted that 16 expert examinations were appointed during the investigation. 9 of them are completed, including explosive. It showed that diphenylamine and hexogen were in the explosive that had blown up a car of the journalist.  Splinter parts of anti-personnel mine were also discovered.

Furthermore, 150 terabytes of video from surveillance cameras are being studied by the police.

1800 people are surveyed, including 300 witnesses, 324 taxi drivers and passengers of taxis, 60 friends and relatives of the dead. The permission of the court to have access to the information of 18 thousand mobile connections is received.

As previously reported, journalist Sheremet was killed as a result of the explosion of a car in which he was driving in the center of Kiev on July 20, 2016. Ukraine asked for the FBI of the USA and law enforcement officials of Germany assistance in investigating the crime.
