Zelensky held a conference call on the situation in the regions: the situation is worst in Kyiv

“I held a conference call on the situation in the regions, focusing on addressing the consequences of russian strikes and the power supply situation. The situation is worst in Kyiv: people and businesses are experiencing prolonged electricity and water outages, and the problems are extremely serious. This is effectively the result of the failure to implement decisions at the city level to prepare for the heating season, as well as this russian operation against Ukraine's energy sector”, - President Zelensky said on social media on November 6.

He noted that the Ukrainian government is providing additional measures that could help, including equipment deliveries and the acceleration of repair work. “There are also agreements with Germany and Spain — I discussed this with leaders and companies during my visits — on the delivery of the necessary generators, cables, and other equipment”, - the president emphasized.

He also reported that the conference call included briefings on the situation in the Dnipro, Kharkiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Zhytomyr, Sumy and Kyiv oblasts. “We also held a separate discussion with representatives of energy companies, both state-owned and private, on the need to bring in additional repair crews and accelerate restoration work”, - Zelensky added.

“The Prime Minister of Ukraine reported on the launch of a program providing monthly additional payments to everyone involved in restoration work, including energy workers, utility workers, railway workers, and employees of water treatment and water supply facilities. It is important that certain Armed Forces units and resources are being deployed to restore the power grid and energy facilities”, - Zelensky noted.

“There was a briefing by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Air Force on the use of combat aircraft to shoot down Shahed drones, the deployment of groups to protect energy and infrastructure facilities, and the use of mobile fire groups. We are preparing an additional supply of ammunition for F-16s: relevant agreements with our partners are already in place. There are separate instructions for the Prime Minister of Ukraine regarding communication with neighboring countries and the operation of solidarity export lines.
