“About 75% of voters in the DNR, according to preliminary data, have voted since early voting began”, - “republican” election commission chairman Vladimir Vysotsky told local journalists.
According to him, the mark of 1 million voters was reached as early as September 15. The so-called twenty-day early voting was organized by mobile field groups that, accompanied by armed russian servicemen, went from house to house and apartment to apartment. The procedure was explained by the heightened danger and remoteness of a number of settlements.
According to the Central Election Commission of russia, as of January 1, 2026, the number of russian “voters” in the “DNR” stood at 1,631,962.
As reported, holding elections to the State Duma of russia in the occupied territories of Ukraine contradicts Ukrainian legislation and international law. Ukraine and most countries of the world do not recognize russian jurisdiction over the occupied areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, and consider the results of such election campaigns illegal and without legal consequences. In the occupied territories of Ukraine, voting will take place not only at polling stations, but also in residents’ apartments, near building entrances, and in other unsuitable locations. Local authorities asked the Central Election Commission of russia to minimize video surveillance of the voting process.
