Lithuanian Foreign Minister confirms information about russia preparing hybrid attacks against Ukraine’s allies

Lithuania has the same intelligence information about the possible preparation by russia of hybrid attacks against countries supporting Ukraine as other countries in the region. This was stated by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys, reports “European Pravda”, citing Delfi.

Budrys was commenting on a statement by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The day before, Tusk said that intelligence indicated russian plans to carry out “hybrid strikes” using drones and missiles against countries supporting Ukraine, particularly Poland.

“I want to assure everyone that Lithuania has the same intelligence information as other countries in the region and the countries that have deployed their troops here. There is no other information”, - Budrys said.

According to him, he discussed this information with the NATO Secretary General, his deputy, and the commanders of the armed forces of European countries.

“I wanted to make sure that we were talking about the same thing. The news is that, yes, we are talking about the same thing. Lithuania has the same information; we have discussed it as a possible false flag operation by russia”, - the minister stressed.

Budrys also said that public warnings about possible threats are part of coordinated efforts aimed at preventing provocations.

Tusk’s statement came amid rising tensions on NATO’s eastern flank. On September 15, a NATO fighter jet shot down a drone over Lithuania that had entered from the territory of Belarus. An explosive device was found at the crash site. Lithuanian authorities said they were investigating the origin of the drone.
