A fire broke out in Poland at a plant that produces drone systems for the Ukrainian and Polish armies: arson is suspected

A fire broke out at the WB Electronics facility in Poland, which produces components for drones used by the Polish and Ukrainian armies. Law enforcement authorities do not rule out arson as a possible cause. This was reported by Onet, according to “Slovo i Dilo”.

The fire broke out during the night of August 31 on the premises of the plant in the city of Skarżysko-Kamienna. The fire started at around 00:23. An operator from the security company notified the police after the alarm was triggered.

Surveillance cameras recorded an unidentified person wearing a balaclava who, according to preliminary information, entered the facility through the fence. Law enforcement officers also found a backpack and a sweatshirt near the plant.

Police officers, a dog handler with a service dog, and a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera were dispatched to the scene. After that, the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and Poland’s Military Counterintelligence Service were brought in. Investigators do not rule out the possibility that the fire was deliberately set.

According to firefighters, the fire was small, and extinguishing it took about two hours. The facility was not operating at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.

Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the coordinator of Poland’s special services, said that ABW is investigating whether the fire could have been an act of sabotage. He also urged people not to spread disinformation about the incident.

WB Electronics is Poland’s largest private defense company. The company produces components and systems for drones used by the Polish and Ukrainian militaries. The plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna produces, among other things, composite structures and control systems for UAVs.
