At least 437 civilians were killed in Ukraine in one month, while another 2,610 were injured, according to a report by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission.

It notes that this is the highest monthly civilian casualty figure recorded by the organization since March 2022. Compared with June, the number of casualties increased by 30%, and compared with July last year, by 70%.

In total, 1,839 civilians were killed in Ukraine during the first seven months of 2026, while another 10,638 were injured. The total number of casualties was 44% higher than during the same period last year and approximately twice as high as the figure for January–July 2024.

An increase in civilian casualties was also recorded in russia. According to russian authorities, whose figures the UN cannot independently verify, 79 civilians were killed in attacks in July, which is 5.5 times fewer civilian casualties than on the Ukrainian side.
