The named list of russian military personnel killed in Ukraine has surpassed 238,000 — media

The identities of 238,014 russian military personnel who have been killed since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have been established. This was reported by the BBC, which identified the names of the dead together with Mediazona and a team of volunteers.

It is noted that the primary sources of information about the casualties were publications by local officials (heads of municipalities and rural settlements, school principals, and representatives of cultural centers), as well as posts by close relatives.

"An analysis of the named lists of the dead in Yakutia, Tatarstan, and Bashkortostan shows that between 35% and 67% of the names of those killed were never mentioned in any publications—neither in officials' statements nor in social media posts. The deaths of these servicemen become known only through photographs from cemeteries, the examination of state registries, and court decisions", - the report says.
