A crater and debris of an unknown object: sirens sounded in Poland amid russia's attack on Ukraine

Air raid sirens sounded overnight on July 30 in Poland's Lublin Voivodeship amid a massive russian attack on Ukraine. There were reports that one or two missiles may have entered Polish airspace, but Polish officials did not confirm any violation of the country's border.

Sirens sounded in Lublin and other parts of the region. They were later deactivated, and no further alerts were issued.

Marcin Bubicz, spokesperson for the Lublin Voivode, said that local authorities had received "credible and confirmed" information from Poland's Government Security Centre about the threat of air strikes.

Before the sirens were activated, the Polish military reported that fighter jets and an airborne early warning aircraft were patrolling the country's airspace due to strikes by russian long-range aviation against Ukraine. Ground-based air defense and radar systems were also placed on heightened alert.

Police in the Lublin Voivodeship also reported a loud sound near Biłgoraj, where officers discovered a crater and debris from an unidentified object in a field.
