Russia launched more than 70 missiles at Ukraine overnight: 8 people were killed, including 3 children – Zelensky

At least eight people were killed as a result of a massive russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine during the night of July 30. Among the dead were parents and their three children in the settlement of Radushne, the Dnipropetrovsk oblast. Rescuers pulled two more children alive from under the rubble. This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Tonight, a russian missile strike on Radushne in the Dnipropetrovsk oblast killed parents and their three children. Two more children were pulled alive from the rubble. An ordinary residential house was completely destroyed by a ballistic missile", - he said.

According to the president, emergency rescue operations are continuing in Lviv at the site where a residential building was struck. Rescuers are clearing the debris and searching for people.

"As of now, eight people have been confirmed dead across the country. Dozens of others have been injured, and all are receiving the necessary medical care. All relevant emergency services are involved", - Zelensky said.

He noted that Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as the Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts came under attack.

The assault destroyed and damaged dozens of residential buildings, civilian businesses, and infrastructure facilities.

According to Zelensky, russia launched more than 70 missiles, a significant number of them ballistic, as well as more than 280 attack drones. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed more than 260 drones.

The president also said that Ukrainian combat aircraft successfully intercepted a significant number of cruise missiles. According to him, mobile fire groups were also engaged in countering the cruise missile threat.

Zelensky stressed that despite the critical shortage of missiles for Ukraine's air defense systems, the military continues to demonstrate a high level of professionalism. However, protecting the country from the russian missile threat requires continued support from international partners.

"Protection against the russian missile threat is a critical task for saving the lives of our people. And it is a task that cannot rest solely on Ukraine, on one country alone", - the president said.
