The russian dictator has signed a decree increasing the authorized number of servicemembers in the russian armed forces by 25,000.

According to the decree of June 12, 2026, the authorized strength of the russian armed forces was set at 2,399,130 personnel, including 1,510,000 servicemembers. Under the new document, the authorized strength has been increased to 2,426,130 personnel, including 1,535,000 servicemembers.

Putin said he made this decision in connection with the creation of construction units within the russian armed forces intended to carry out military construction tasks, build defensive lines and fortifications, and construct military and social infrastructure facilities.
