The russian army loses more than 400 service members to capture one square kilometer of territory in the Donetsk oblast, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Facebook.
The Ukrainian general presented the statistics on russian military losses during a meeting with Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine mission.
"Ukrainian warriors are doing everything possible to make every step the enemy takes as costly and exhausting as possible. For example, in the Donetsk oblast, the russian army loses more than 400 soldiers to capture one square kilometer of territory", - Syrskyi said.
In April 2026, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa reported that during the first quarter of 2026, russian army losses in the fighting in the Donbas had nearly tripled, with the occupiers losing 316 service members killed and wounded for every square kilometer of the Donetsk oblast they captured.
As previously reported, the combat losses of the russian occupying forces over the past day exceeded 1,100 service members.
