Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko reported on his “official” website on June 25 about a meeting with chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the russian federation Valentina Matviyenko.

In conversation with her, Lukashenko complained that “it is not our fault that two states were formed here”, referring to Belarus and russia.

“I do not think there is any force capable of destroying this unity”, - Lukashenko stated.

Matviyenko replied that “there are very many people who would like to destroy this unity”.

“Very many”, - Lukashenko continued, emphasizing: “But I am sure, and I recently said this to Zelensky’s representatives, that our peoples will still be together”.

The Lukashenko website provides no other quotations. At the same time, according to reports from independent Telegram channels, Lukashenko also said: “I met in Minsk with representatives of Zelensky, and together we agreed that Belarus should not be drawn into the war against Ukraine”.

The Belarusian dictator also added that “substantive agreements must be reached”.
