"We sent a message that we are ready to meet with putin during the G7 summit because Trump and Macron will be there — that is, Europeans plus America. I think it is a very good opportunity for everyone to meet together", - Zelensky told journalists during a visit to the Lavra on June 15, according to the BBC.

"Europe and the United States agreed, while russia once again demonstrated that they are not ready for negotiations", - Zelensky added.

As Reuters writes, a Ukrainian official said that Zelensky informed American officials and French President Emmanuel Macron about the proposal to hold talks during the G7 summit. Ukraine also sent an invitation directly to its russian counterparts but did not receive a clear response, the official said.

The report recalls that in an open letter to putin, Zelensky had previously proposed a personal meeting for negotiations and expressed the view that the war was increasing pressure on the russian economy. In response, putin publicly stated that he saw no reason for such a meeting and that Ukrainian drone strikes posed no economic threat to russia.

The G7 summit will take place on June 15–17 in the French city of Évian-les-Bains on the shores of Lake Geneva.
