“NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned russia against carrying out a nuclear strike on Ukraine. He said this at a press conference, responding to a question about the possibility of putin using such weapons”, - “The Moscow Times” Telegram channel reported on May 21.

“They know: if this happens, the [Alliance’s] response will be devastating”. - Rutte emphasized.

He also added that NATO is closely monitoring russia’s nuclear exercises, which began on May 19. More than 64,000 servicemen and over 7,800 units of equipment are taking part in the three-day maneuvers, including nuclear submarines, missile systems, and strategic aviation. These are the largest exercises of this kind in the country’s modern history. The russian Ministry of Defense stated that their goal is to prepare for the use of nuclear forces “in conditions of threat of aggression”.
