"With the end of the transition period, which lasted until January 1, 2026, payments of 12 types of state assistance also ceased. Among them was assistance for persons not entitled to a pension, which in the republic was received by about nine thousand people", - local media write.

The social pension — more precisely, an allowance — under the "laws of the DNR" was paid to elderly people who did not have the required work experience or could not confirm it due to the loss of documents. Its amount was only 7,300 rubles ($ 98).

After the annexation of the occupied territories of Ukraine, it turned out that under russian legislation, reaching retirement age alone is not enough to receive such a pension — people must work longer: women until age 65 and men until age 70.

The so-called "Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the DNR" reported that it is aware of this problem and has even developed a "draft law providing for the restoration of this payment to citizens not entitled to a pension who had previously been recipients". The draft law is currently undergoing the approval process, and no one knows how long it will take.
