“Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that russia could carry out a military attack on NATO countries as early as this year, and he wants to be sure that all alliance partners will be ready ‘in practice’ to fulfill their collective defense obligations. However, Tusk still has doubts, he admitted to the Financial Times”, - the Telegram channel “The Moscow Times” reported on April 24.

“The most important and key question” for the Polish prime minister and “for Europe is whether the United States is ready to be as committed as supposed by the NATO treaty”.

Tusk also has doubts about the readiness of European countries to counter russian aggression, judging by their attempts to “pretend that nothing special happened” when in September 2025 about 20 russian drones entered Poland’s airspace.

Referring to a possible russian attack, Tusk said: “This is very serious. I am talking about the short term — months rather than years. It is very important for us to be sure that everyone will treat their obligations to NATO as seriously as Poland does”.

The report recalls that in mid-April, the State Duma of russia approved a bill that allows putin to send troops to other countries in the event of the arrest, detention, criminal prosecution, or other forms of legal action against russian citizens. Similar permissions were granted by parliament to putin before his invasion of Crimea in 2014 and the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022.
