If another capital, besides moscow and Minsk, organizes a meeting between Zelensky and putin, we will come – Sybiha

Kyiv supports holding a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and russia and has reached out to certain capitals, not only Ankara, regarding organizing a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and the head of the kremlin, vladimir putin. This was stated by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha at a meeting with journalists, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to him, the Ukrainian side supports the meeting in order to “gain new diplomatic momentum”.

“We asked the Turks about this, and we also asked certain other capitals. We addressed Turkey directly. But if another capital, besides moscow and Minsk, organizes such a meeting, we will come. And this is important for us”, - Sybiha said.

On April 17, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his speech at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, confirmed Ankara’s readiness to facilitate direct negotiations between Ukraine and russia, including a possible leaders’ summit, provided both sides are ready.

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha confirmed Ukraine’s readiness for a meeting at the level of leaders of Ukraine and russia with the participation of the President of Turkey and, possibly, the United States.

During a public discussion at ADF-Talks at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday, Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine relies “on our Turkish friends, for example, regarding organizing a meeting at the level of leaders”.

“So we are ready for this meeting. Also in Turkey. I mean a meeting between Zelensky, putin, Erdoğan, possibly Trump. We conveyed this message to our Turkish friends during my president’s recent visit”, - Sybiha said.
