“The Prosecutor General’s Office has opened proceedings against Mariana Bezuhla under the article on high treason. This concerns Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — actions under martial law. This is no longer about political discussions — this is a matter of state security”, - MP Serhii Taruta reported on his Facebook page.

According to him, the investigation is checking whether Bezuhla’s public statements could have harmed the Ukrainian military.

“And, unfortunately, there are concrete examples. After the dissemination of information about the 72nd Brigade that was holding Vuhledar: a planned rotation was disrupted, defensive positions were lost. After her statements about the ‘withdrawal of the brigade from Vuhledar’, in less than a day russians redeployed significant forces in that direction. And this is not an isolated case. When public activity leads to: losses among the military, weakening of defense, demoralization of the army, this is no longer about ‘freedom of speech.’. This is about responsibility”, - Taruta writes.

He notes that together with colleague Fedir Venislavskyi they submitted the relevant appeal. And importantly: the Prosecutor General’s Office was obliged to open proceedings through the court. “It is no longer possible to ignore such things. There must be clear legal consequences”, - Taruta concluded.
