The Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund made a positive decision to extend the programme of cooperation with Ukraine and allocate financial assistance. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wrote that in the microblog at Twitter on Thursday night, - informs Interfax.

"The Board of Directors of the IMF has just made a positive decision to extend the programme of cooperation with Ukraine and allocate financial assistance," - said the President.

"The positive decision of the IMF suggests that the world recognizes – reforms are taking place in Ukraine, there is a qualitative and positive change and the country is moving in the right direction," - quoted the press service of the President P. Poroshenko’s comment.

The Head of State stressed that the country had received the third tranche of aid in the framework of one cooperation programme for the first time in the history of relations between Ukraine and the IMF.

The President noted that the IMF's decision opened the way for the allocation of financial assistance from the US in the amount of $ 1 billion, the EU macro-financial assistance of additional EUR 600 million, other international financial institutions and opened a window of opportunity to attract foreign investment in the Ukrainian economy.

"All this will keep the stability of the hryvnia, we have achieved secure macroeconomic stability and support the first steps of economic growth," - said Poroshenko and stressed the fact that the draft budget for 2017 would have prerequisites for the increase of social standards.

The President also called the resolution of the Fund "signal to the aggressor" that, according to the President, "tried to put a spoke in the wheel at the IMF Board of Directors session." "Russia's attempts to undermine the solidarity of the IMF and Ukraine and disrupt the decision on tranche failed. The Kremlin lost in this operation. Reforms make us stronger and, therefore, our ability to counteract external aggression becomes stronger," - said Poroshenko.
