“But Poland is a member of NATO, and therefore we are forced to wait for a decision from NATO”, - said Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in response to a question about closing the sky over Ukraine, as reported by “Novyny.Live” on Telegram.

According to him, polls in Poland show that its citizens support the idea of closing the sky over Ukraine.

Sikorski also clarified that, against the backdrop of recent provocations by russia in the airspace of Poland, Romania, and Estonia, the process of discussing such an initiative is proceeding at an accelerated pace.

Ukrainian authorities, from the very beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, have called on NATO countries to close the sky, since even then the problem of russian missile attacks was serious. Although over the past three and a half years Ukraine has been provided with a large number of air defense systems, they are still not enough to protect all important facilities.
