"Hungarians have already decided…" Peter Szijjarto stated that Ukraine will never become a EU and NATO member

"In my opinion, the president of Ukraine has completely lost his sense of reality… For example, he says that Ukraine will become a member of the European Union, and that’s it. Dear Mr. President, this will not be decided by you", - the Hungarian foreign minister was quoted by Magyar Nemzet.

He made this remark in response to the Ukrainian president’s statement that Ukraine will join the European Union regardless of Hungary’s position.

"This will be decided by Hungarians together with the citizens of 26 other European Union countries, and Hungarians have already decided: we do not want strategic integration with Ukraine, we do not want them to become members of the EU and NATO, and I add — they will not", - Szijjarto appealed to the EU’s rule of unanimous approval for any decision.

As reported earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban explained his reluctance to see Ukraine in the EU by saying that "Ukraine is a country with a very complicated fate" and Hungary does not want to share "this complicated fate" with it.
