A large number of combat clashes are being recorded on the front, but the pace of russian advancement continues to decline. Military expert Vladyslav Selezniov reported this in a comment to OstroV.

“About 230 combat engagements are recorded per day. That’s a lot. The enemy is trying to put pressure on our defenders in all directions, using aviation and bombings. At the same time, part of its actions do not bring the desired result — that’s the reality”, - the expert noted.

According to him, in October the pace of enemy advancement has decreased to about 10 square kilometers per week, whereas in September this figure was approximately 15, and in August — 25–30.

“The enemy is gradually depleting its capabilities in local areas. That, in fact, is good news”, - Selezniov emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that several directions remain critically tense.

“The situation in the Pokrovsk direction is currently quite unstable for our defenders. The situation in the Kupiansk area remains at a crisis level. The enemy is also maximally intensifying efforts in the Siversk and Lyman directions — this is concerning”, - said the military expert.

In his assessment, russian forces have ambitious plans to form a strike foothold in the Lyman direction with subsequent attacks toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.

“The enemy is trying to find an opportunity to break through precisely in this direction to restore the dynamics of its offensive, but instead, we see a gradual decline in its potential”, - he noted.

Selezniov also drew attention to the changing nature of combat.

“The war is changing: the enemy is actively using various types of drones that operate tens of kilometers away. This is no longer an isolated story, it’s a real problem, especially given that on the eve of the heating season, the enemy uses these means to literally terrorize the civilian population of border areas”, - the expert emphasized.

He explained that the russians use drones not only on the battlefield but also to terrorize peaceful communities — to strike energy facilities and create an atmosphere of fear among the population. “This is a serious challenge that requires our corresponding measures”, - he said.
