This was reported on August 11 on the air of Suspilne. Studio by the head of the Chasiv Yar City Military Administration, Serhii Chaus.

According to the head of the CMA, due to active fighting in the urban areas of Chasiv Yar, it is impossible to determine the exact number of civilians; some of them may have died as a result of the hostilities.

“According to official statistics, 130 people remain in Chasiv Yar. I’ll be frank — I cannot comment on how many of them are still alive. Surviving in this hell is very difficult, but we know such people exist. There is no connection with the community, with the city as such. There may be some episodic contacts, but nothing more”, - said Chaus.

“People who stayed have fallen into their own trap. They thought it would get better”, - he added.

Evacuation from Chasiv Yar is still possible, but only with the help of the military, who take people beyond the settlement.

“Evacuation is possible, it takes place in several stages, and now it is only possible in coordination with military units. They do a significant part of the work — in general, the most dangerous part: getting a person out of the city”, - noted Serhii Chaus.

There is virtually no communication with the civilian population of the city, the head of the CMA explained.

“Safety and Chasiv Yar at this moment are two concepts that simply cannot be combined. This is an open combat zone. There is no silence there now, and there hasn’t been for quite a while: for more than a year, Chasiv Yar has been holding on, and fighting has been taking place on its territory”, - he emphasized.

As of the end of July 2025, fighting in Chasiv Yar continues. Russian forces have almost completely destroyed the city, but the Defense Forces hold positions in the urban area.
