“Today, June 4, on the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression and the Day of Remembrance for Children Killed as a Result of russia’s Armed Aggression Against Ukraine, we remember every child whose life was brutally cut short. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, according to official data, more than 630 children have died, over 1,900 have been injured. Over 19,000 more have been illegally deported to russia or forcibly relocated within the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine”, - reads the statement from the Ministry of Justice.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized on social media on June 4: “These children were killed by russia and its war. Boys and girls whose lives were cut short by russian strikes and shelling, by hostilities that Ukraine didn’t want for a second—but has been forced to defend itself from for years”.
The President noted that “today we still don’t know the exact number of the dead, because we don’t have access to the temporarily occupied territories.”
“We still have to determine how many adults and children killed by russia are buried in mass graves near Mariupol and other Ukrainian cities and villages destroyed by the russians. The world must not forget or forgive russia for this terrible pain and such aggression—an absolutely unprovoked and criminal russian war against Ukraine. In memory of every murdered child, in memory of every destroyed human life, there must be real global solidarity—everyone in Europe, everyone in America, everyone in other parts of the world—so that russia is held accountable and forced to return peace, stolen from Ukraine and Ukrainians”, - said Zelensky.
