Russia is considering the possibility of severing diplomatic relations with Ukraine after the events in the Crimea on August 7th. It was reported by Izvestia’s source in Russian foreign policy circles.
According to the source, one of the options for Moscow's response to Kiev’s actions can be a closure of the Russian diplomatic mission and recall of all diplomatic staff of the embassy.
"President Vladimir Putin said that Russia would not leave events in Crimea unanswered. The Russian leader accused the Ukrainian authorities of transition to terror instead of solving conflicts peacefully. One of the possible hard answers may become severance of diplomatic relations. This variant is being working on in Moscow. However, the final word rests with the head of state who will decide on the basis of the collected data," - said the source.
