NATO observes with concern the increasing tension in relations between Russia and Ukraine and urged Moscow to work on de-escalation of the situation. It was stated today by the NATO headquarters in Brussels, commenting on the development of the latest events in Ukrainian-Russian relations, - reports UNIAN.

"We are closely and with concern observing the increasing tension between Russia and Ukraine. We are encouraged by the strong condemnation of Ukraine of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We have noted that Ukraine strongly rejected the accusations of Russia and made it clear that Kiev intended to restore its territorial integrity exclusively by political and diplomatic means. We also note that Russia has not provided any substantial evidence of its accusations against Ukraine," – stressed the headquarters.

At the same time, the Alliance noted that the recent military actions of Russia in the Crimea "do not contribute to easing the tension."

"We call on Russia to work for peace and de-escalation. We are also deeply concerned about the recent outbreak of violence in the east of Ukraine and increasing ceasefire violations along the contact line mostly by pro-Russian militants," - stated the NATO.

In this regard, the Alliance called on all the parties to return to the negotiating table and work towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine by diplomatic and peaceful means."

"The key is full implementation of the Minsk Agreements, as we confirmed at the Warsaw Summit, Allies are united in their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We call on Russia to abolish the illegal and illegitimate annexation of the Crimea," - stressed the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance.

As previously reported, on August 9th the FSS stated about the alleged two attempts of attacks by the Ukrainian military and subversives in the Crimea. Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on this statement, accused the authorities of Ukraine of terror. Ukraine denies all charges.
