"Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and potential successor to Zelensky, General Zaluzhnyi, sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump and his policy towards russia", - Bild wrote on March 7.

The publication quotes Zaluzhnyi, who is now Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK, speaking at a security conference in London: "We see that it is not just the 'axis of evil' and russia trying to revise the world order, but the U.S. is ultimately destroying this order".

According to Zaluzhnyi, "The White House has cast doubt on the unity of the Western world". He believes that "NATO may cease to exist in the near future" due to Donald Trump’s policies.

"Even though russia is led by a war criminal, the White House is taking steps toward the kremlin to meet it halfway", - Zaluzhnyi said.

In his opinion, Europe could be moscow’s next target.

Bild also notes that Zaluzhnyi is considered the most promising opponent of Zelensky in the elections, which will eventually take place. Publicly, however, he has not yet spoken out against his president or announced any presidential ambitions. According to a November 2024 poll, 27% of voters were ready to support Zaluzhnyi, while the incumbent head of state had 16%.

"The general’s statements at the conference indicate that Zelensky’s possible successor would also be skeptical or even hostile toward the U.S. due to its policies regarding the kremlin", - Bild writes.
