The issue of Ukraine was raised at the very end of the U.S. president’s speech in Congress on March 5.

"I am also tirelessly working to ensure that millions of Ukrainians and russians are not needlessly killed or wounded in this horrific and brutal conflict, which shows no signs of ending. The United States has sent hundreds of billions of dollars to support Ukraine’s defense", - Donald Trump stated.

He reminded that Europe has spent significantly more money on purchasing russian oil and gas than on Ukraine’s defense.

According to Donald Trump, the time has come to stop this madness. He quoted Volodymyr Zelensky, saying that no one wants peace more than Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Allegedly, russia has also expressed willingness to end "this nightmare".

"I just received a letter from Zelensky. Ukraine is ready to sign an agreement on mineral metals. It seems russia is also ready for peace negotiations. Isn’t that wonderful?", - he concluded.

It was expected that during his speech in Congress, Donald Trump would present his peace plan for Ukraine.
