The U.S. Department of Defense has pledged to provide Ukraine with military aid worth approximately $5.5 billion by January 20, 2025, according to an announcement on its official website.

"The Department of Defense will work quickly to meet President's surge commitment to Ukraine support", - the statement reads. It acknowledges that delivering $5.5 billion worth of equipment from U.S. military stockpiles by the specified deadline is "no easy task". However, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh emphasized that over the past three years, the Department has shown an impressive capability to respond quickly to such challenges.

"It is a short time … just under 70 days", - Singh said during a briefing. "This department can do incredible work in that amount of time. The president made clear that … he wants to spend down the authority that Congress has allocated and authorized before he leaves office. We're going to work very hard to make sure that happens".

Singh further stressed, "We're committed to ensuring that Ukraine has what it needs to be successful on the battlefield". Simultaneously, she assured that U.S. military stockpiles would be replenished without compromising the readiness of the U.S. Armed Forces.

This announcement comes as President-elect Donald Trump reiterated his promise to "work very hard" to end the war between russia and Ukraine once he assumes office.
