Russian forces launched airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, hitting a 15-story residential building, resulting in casualties. This was reported by the head of the Oblast State Administration, Ivan Fedorov, on October 1.

"A 12-year-old child was injured in the shelling. A total of 21 people have sought medical help. One person died at the site of the strike. These are the preliminary consequences of the russian attack on Zaporizhzhia", - he wrote.

Rescue operations and the clearing of rubble are still ongoing. Medics, law enforcement, rescuers, and utility workers are on-site addressing the aftermath of the strikes.

According to the State Emergency Service, the upper floors of the building were partially destroyed, and the facade of the building, along with 25 cars, was damaged.

"Rescue workers freed two people trapped in an elevator, who, after being examined by medics, declined hospitalization", - the report stated.

Additionally, private homes and outbuildings in one district of the city suffered significant damage, and several fires broke out.

Search and rescue operations are continuing.
