Romania scrambled fighters due to the attack by russian drones near the river border with Ukraine and the entry of a drone into Romanian airspace on the night of September 27. This was stated in a press release from the Romanian Ministry of National Defense published on the agency's website.

“On Friday, September 27, russian forces launched a new series of drone strikes on civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine, in the area of the river border with Romania, on the Kiliya arm of the Danube... To monitor the situation, two Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft took off from the 86th Air Base in Borcea starting at 1:52 AM, and later, starting at 3:22 AM, two Spanish Air Force F-18 aircraft. The forces of the expanded combat service of the Air Police from the 57th Air Base in Mihail Kogălniceanu. All four fighters landed at the airbase around 4 AM”, - the document states.

It is noted that the Romanian radar surveillance system “indicated the possibility that one of the drones involved in the attack on Ukrainian facilities crossed national airspace around 3 AM for a very short period, lasting no more than three minutes, in the border area with Ukraine”.

The Romanian agency points out that, according to available data, there have been no reports of the existence of an influence zone on the territory of the country.

“The forces of the Ministry of National Defense have been conducting searches in this area using aviation and ground groups since this morning”, - the statement also said.
