The occupation authorities of the "DNR" have acknowledged significant damage to some of the art objects in Donetsk's park of forged figures. This was revealed by the head of the exhibition department at the Art-Donbas Museum, Yevhen Lavrynenko.
A major restoration effort uncovered destruction to some of the forged figures that could not be repaired on-site. They were taken to a blacksmith workshop for restoration.
"The repair was very necessary since some exhibits have been outdoors since 2001... for over 20 years in the park. Some of them could not even be restored on-site; they had to be completely or partially dismantled. For example, the art objects 'Sword', 'Maiden', 'Shubin', 'Euro chariot' and 'By the Pike's Will'", - Lavrynenko explained.
The park of forged figures in central Donetsk was established in 2001. Its collection was regularly updated during International Blacksmithing Festivals. Before the russian occupation of the city in 2014, the park was in satisfactory condition and served as a hallmark of Ukrainian Donetsk.
